Delhi air pollution: All primary schools to be shut from tomorrow, says CM Arvind Kejriwal

Primary schools in Delhi will be closed from tomorrow, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared on Friday as air pollution within the city worsened. The CM too said that the govt is contemplating having an odd-even plot to check the pollution. Schools will stay open for secondary and highest secondary students, but no outdoor activities will be allowed. Addressing the press conference, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann took duty for the excessive stubble burning that has led to a decline in air quality over the last few days.
“We’re taking all steps to control the pollution circumstance. Meanwhile, we’re closing down all primary schools in Delhi from tomorrow… Moreover, outdoor exercises for all classes over Class 5 would be banned,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.
School closures because of pollution levels are now an annual occurrence in Delhi. This disturbance in school for primary classes comes after schools in Delhi at last fully opened physically for students of all grades in April this year after more than two years of closure since Covid.
This declaration from the Delhi Government comes as the AQI levels continue to worsen. Delhi BJP Chief Adesh Kumar Gupta to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar requesting the closure of schools.
