Rocky Aur Rani kii Prem Kahaani
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Productions. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles, alongside Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Samir Soni. The film is scheduled to be released on 28 July 2023.
Story
The film tells the story of Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer Singh), a rich brat who lives with his joint family in a grand mansion in Delhi. He handles the family business which he inherited, but doesn’t really focus on work and only parties. One day, the family gets a notice from the government for money laundering. Rocky claims that no money laundering has been done, but the family is pissed at him as their reputation would now be ruined because of his carelessness.
An auditor named Rani Chatterjee (Alia Bhatt) is sent to check the family’s financial statements. Rocky finds Rani attractive and tries to flirt with her, but she is not interested. She finds no issues with the family’s spending except for Rocky, but he keeps hitting on her.
The family asks Rani to cut them some slack as it is their daughter’s wedding soon, but she refuses. She reveals that she has been asked by her seniors to stay with them for a while in order to keep an eye on their finances. Rocky thinks of this as an opportunity to swoon Rani.
However, Rani’s family disagrees about the fact that she would have to live in a stranger’s house. Therefore, Rani invites her family to stay at the Randhawas’. It turns out that Rani’s grandmother (Shabana Azmi) and Rocky’s grandfather (Dharmendra) were a thing back in their young days. When they meet, things get romantic, but Rocky’s grandmother (Jaya Bachchan) is not happy about this.
Rocky impresses Rani’s family while living with them under the same roof. However, Rani is still not impressed by Rocky as she finds him to be a cheat. In order to redeem himself, Rocky takes Rani to his workplace and shows her that he can work hard too if he wants to. He spends the entire day working obediently in front of her and claims that he just needs someone like her to inspire him to work hard. Considering this, Rani finally starts finding Rocky attractive and trusts his claim of not being involved in money laundering.
We then see Rocky finding out that his rivals were the reason for the false allegations on his business. They planted money launderers in his firm. Knowing this, Rocky tries to tell Rani, but she does not believe him. However, Rocky is desperate to prove himself.
The fun banter between the two families and the grandparents’ love triangle continues as the date of Rocky’s sister’s wedding comes closer. Rocky decides to invite the rivals too in the wedding. In front of everyone on the mic in the wedding, Rocky reveals his rival’s truth and shows their documents and their planted employees to Rani. Rani checks it and then the police are called for the case of false allegations and the rivals are arrested. In the end, we see Rocky’s sister getting happily married and Rocky and Rani living happily ever after with their families.
