PERSONAL AND POLITICAL BACKGROUND
Diving deep into the biographical background of Draupadi Murmu, The new president of India -who was born on 20th June 1958, in the Uparbeda village of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, is an Indian politician and a respected member of the BJP party. She was prior involved in politics as a governor of Jharkhand, for years ranging from 2015 to 2021. Also, her family was involved in the political system wherein her father and grandfather were elected as Sarpanch under the Panchayati Raj System.
Before setting her foot into state politics, she served as a professor in a Research Institute
and worked in the irrigation department of the Government of Odisha.
She has come a long hard-hitting way encountering many dreadful phases in her life. She was
shattered completely, by the death of her loved ones-losing her spouse, sons, mother, and brother in just spanning six years between 2009-2015, inexplicably. Hence, she then associated
herself with Brahmakumari meditation practices to find solace.

Many would not know but she is a wonderful spokesperson, both in Santhali and Odia
languages. Being an active responsible leader, she took rapid initiatives for improving the
infrastructure of the region.
She was presented with a Nilkantha Award for best MLA by Odisha Legislative Assembly in
2007, and been an MLA from Rajrangpur Assembly Constituency. She received the honor of becoming the first female Governor of Jharkhand on 18 May 2015 and took a sincere oath. She took her responsibilities quite earnestly and sought to seek major changes to the Chohtanagpur Tenancy Act 1908, and the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act 1949, which demanded unusual rights to the tribal people for commercial purposes, while not altering the ownership of the land.
LATEST CONTESTING CAMPAIGN
Recently in June 2022, the BJP party nominated her as the candidate for the President of India for election. As part of political strategies and campaign activities, she visited many states like the JMM party of Jharkand, BJD of Odisha, Shiv Sena of Maharashtra, BSP of Uttar Pradesh, and JDS of Karnataka all of which supported her throughout. But things did not go well later with Murmu who received flak of controversies from Congress and other opposition parties calling her just a dummy candidate and statue of BJP. She was embodied as a “corruptive school of thought” by them, which backfired by her many supporting members.

The proceeding for the counting of votes began at 11 am in the morning at the Parliament House, where both of the highly competent candidates NDA’s Draupadi Murmu and Yashwant Sinha, standing in opposition gruelingly combatting to strike the next hot President seat of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. There were already many evident speculations that the tribal lady Draupadi Murmu would make headway and easily triumph in the elections, being the first tribal woman to grab a top position in the country, so much so that even the Prime Minister with his senior members along with the BJP Chief arrived in the evening expecting her assured victory. And it actually happened what was preconceived, with folk artists all skilfully dancing at a local Delhi school celebrating the first round victory of Draupadi Murmu and even proudly being joined by the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and finally followed by the ending victory of stroke in In the second round, Draupadi Murmu, setting the score high proved herself yet again massively on a vast scale, beating Yashwant Sinha by 480 votes! Well, that’s a huge milestone she has achieved acquiring the country’s uppermost constitutional post as an honorable women President of India. Her rewarding journey has just kicked- started. She has bountiful opportunities and well-deserved benefits ahead in her powerful political career. Kudos to her and the entire country for achieving this inspirational grand accolade!!!
