International Dance Day is an art that consists of a sequence of movement on music. It is categorized and described by its choreography. It is traditional form of expressing. The dance has always been with us, even before the arrival of written language and modern history but you know when was dance first invented, first archeological proof of dance comes from the 9 thousand-year-old cave paintings in India at the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka.

The earliest uses of structured dance were set up in religious ceremonies that told the stories of ancient myths and gods. Daret c. 3300 BC. Egyptian tomb paintings represent dancing figures.

Ancient Egyptians used dancing as a religion and for entertainment as well. The records more common mixture of dance into a modern culture that can be found from Ancient India, Greece, and china. According to Hinduism, ” Shiva Nataraja” is the lord of dance who is often called Nataraja. Here Nata means dance and Raja means king.‘The Nataraja’ is one of the most overriding, visually thrilling forms of the Hindu god Shiva.

In many Shaivite temples, particularly in South India, the Hindu god Shiva in his form as the cosmic dancer, represented in metal or stone.

The fivefold characteristic of Divine control of the universe has been symbolizing by the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva namely: creation, preservation, destruction, illusion, and grace.

Matter, energy, and sound are sorted out through the vibration of his drum, and such as are created by his moves, when he dances.

The Dance Committee of International Theatre Institute (ITI) declared in 1982 that International Dance Day should be celebrated on 29th April every year, on the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, who was the creator of modern ballet.

The main purpose of the International Dance Day was the message to celebrate dance, and roister the predominance of this art form, cross all cultural, political, and ethnic barriers, and to bring people of the world together with a common language – dance.

Every year, an amazing dance personality is selected to pen down a beautiful message for International Dance Day. International Theatre Institute has also created a flagship event in a selected host city, at which there are, the selected Message Author for that year, educational workshops, dance performances, speeches made by ambassadors, humanitarian projects, dignitaries, and some famous dance personalities every year.
