Impressed by his performance after the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Hitler invited him to dinner. Hitler had also offered him to play hockey for Germany, but Major Dhyan Chand turned it down and said that his country is India and he would play for it only.

The year 1948:

Major Dhyan Chand played his last match in the year 1948 and scored more than 400 goals in his entire tenure. Which is a record.

Major Dhyan Chand was awarded India’s third highest civilian honor. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1956. Even today no player has been able to reach the records that Dhyan Chand made one record after another in hockey. In memory of this great player, today is celebrated as National Sports Day.
