After the alleged rape and murder case of an innocent girl in a crematorium in the Delhi Cantt area, the matter of killing her and cremating her without informing the family has started gaining momentum. In the protest against this incident, some local people have started agitation (Andolan) by staging a sit-in outside the crematorium. However, the police have arrested four people including the accused priest in this case.

According to the information, Delhi Police said on Tuesday that a minor girl was cremated at the Old Nangal crematorium on Sunday night without the consent of her parents. Based on the statement of the mother of the girl, an FIR was registered and the priest of the crematorium was arrested. The FSL and crime team took samples from the spot.

‘I had only 1 child, didn’t even let me see her face for the last time… this was the statement of the father of the nine-year-old girl who died. The girl died suspiciously on Sunday evening at the crematorium in the Delhi Cantt police station area. The father says that his daughter went to the cremation ground to get water at around 5:30 pm on Sunday, after which she did not return. Pandit sent some people and called my wife and told her that her daughter is no more. When it was asked what happened, Pandit said that she died due to execution by electricity in the water cooler.

Pandit said that there is no need to call the police and the doctor, here they perform the last rites of the girl and ask her to sign a paper. When I refused, I told my wife. He refused too. After this, my daughter was violently cremated.

The victim’s family, accuse the accused of forcibly performing the last rites

The victim’s family has accused the priest and two or three people with him of forcibly performing the last rites of the girl. The victim’s family said that the accused said that if the matter reaches the police, then the body will be sent for post-mortem, and doctors will extract its vital organs and sell it.

Four accused were arrested with the priest

Around 200 villagers reached the crematorium on Sunday night and staged a dharna till Monday evening, demanding that the arrested people be booked for rape and murder. Some of the politicians had also joined the dharna on Monday demanding justice for the girl and her family. Delhi’s Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam also met the victim’s family on Monday evening and promised financial and legal assistance to the family. The Delhi Police has registered a case under sections 302, 376, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and pertinent sections of the SC/ST Act.

DCP (South-West) Pandit Pratap Singh said that the incident is of the day before, and we have registered a case based on the complaint of the mother of the deceased girl. He said that his daughter was raped. We have added POCSO Act, SC/ST Act, and other relevant sections in the FIR. We have handed over the investigation of the matter to the ACP. Four people who were working in the cremation ground have been arrested.

In protest against the rape and murder case of a minor girl in Delhi, Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police Jaspal Singh said that all relevant sections of IPC, POCSO Act, SC/ST Act will be used in this case. We have already assured people that we will surely complete the investigation at the earliest. I have appealed to the people to end the agitation.
