Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Wednesday contended that the WFI chairman has been sexually exploiting women wrestlers for times, a charge angry rejected by the sports director. Champion wrestler and BJP leader Babita Phogat on Thursday arrived at the protest point at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. “ Babita Phogat has come from the government’s side for concession. We’ll speak with her and also give further details, ” Olympian wrestler Bajrang Punia told ANI.
Babita Phogat said she has assured the wrestlers that the government is with them. “I’ll try that their issues are resolved moment,” she said.
Singh, 66, was tagged uncontested chairman of WFI for a third consecutive term in February 2019. Meanwhile, taking mindfulness of the kick present by wrestlers, the Sports Ministry has look for an explanation from WFI and directed it to fit out a reply within the coming 72 hours on the claim made. Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has now come out in support of the wrestlers protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India( WFI), and called for a inquiry and proper action over allegations of sexual exploitation and internal importunity against the WFI chief.
The matter pertains to the allegations of sexual wrong against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who’s the chief of WFI by Vinesh Phogat who’s the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold in both the Commonwealth and Asian Games. Vinesh has contended that trainers who are favourites of the Wrestling Federation of India( WFI) act up with women and kill them.
