5 DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES | BEST SKINCARE TIPS

Your skin type will depend on how well your natural skin barrier is functioning, especially when it comes to moisture and water content.

If your skin barrier is not working properly then it will not produce enough lipids and will not retain water properly, which is very important to keep the skin soft and firm, due to which the skin will become dry. On the other hand, skin becomes oily due to production of too many lipids or natural oil like sebum.

This natural barrier protects the skin from external irritants and if this barrier is weak, then the skin will become sensitive. And if the skin barrier comes in contact with external factors like makeup, air pollution, weather and UV radiation then that will also damage the skin.

It is very important to know what your skin type is before preparing your skin care routine. As much as it is important to know which products are best for your skin type, it is also important to know which products should be avoided.

So, there are 5 types of skin types which go away slowly.

1. NORMAL SKIN TYPE –

Normal skin type is one that is well balanced, neither too oily nor too dry, nor too sensitive, but definitely has some imperfections. Normal skin  is considered the ideal skin type because of its small pores, even skin tone, and soft texture.

SKIN TYPE NORMAL

SOME SKINCARE TIPS FOR NORMAL SKIN TYPE –

Normal skin care requires the least maintenance but daily attention needs to be paid to this skin type as well so that the skin appears glowing.

  • One who has normal skin needs to take proper care so that there is no skin issue.
  • Skin should be cleaned daily so that the skin remains safe from dirt, pollutants etc. because it can cause acne.
  • One should apply a sunscreen daily so that the skin remains protected from photoaging. You should continue exfoliating to maintain an ideal skin texture.
  • In dry conditions, you should keep yourself moisturized well so that your skin looks good.

2. DRY SKIN TYPE –

Dry skin occurs due to natural moisture barrier issue or due to any external factor like cold weather and excessive washing.

Although dry skin type is characterized by its rough texture, sometimes the skin starts peeling or cracking. If your skin remains very dry all the time, and starts peeling and bleeding, it means that your skin is too dry and you should definitely consult a dermatologist.

Sometimes this skin also looks dull with a little redness. It’s good thing is that it has small pores and is acne prone.

  • The skin needs to be protected from the drying effects of cold weather.
  • Humidifiers should be used in dry climates.

3. OILY SKIN TYPE –

Oily skin occurs due to excessive sebum production. This happens mostly due to internal factors rather than external biological factors. Many people have excessive sebum production due to genetic predisposition. Hormonal changes also increase sebum production, especially during adolescence.

There are some signs of oily skin type like shiny appearance, greasy feel, visible pores or no makeup sticking to the skin. If your skin shows one or two of these signs then you have moderately oily skin and if you show all the signs then you have very oily skin. People with oily skin type have a lot of blemishes such as blackheads and whiteheads.

4. COMBINATION SKIN TYPE –

Combination skin type is a combination of two skin types: either oily and normal or oily and dry. Combination skin type shows an oily area only on the T-zone-on the forehead, nose and chin and rest of the area is dry.

The T zone area remains oily because there is higher concentration of oil glands there. While anyone can have dry or oily patches sometimes but the combination skin types tend to experience these patches consistently.

The T zone area feels quite oily but the rest of the area feels very rough. There are many degrees of combination skin type, such as the T zone area is a little oily while the rest of the area is normal or dry.

5. SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE –

Sensitive skin is caused by a weak natural skin barrier. This can also happen due to genetic dispositions or some allergies.

Someone who has dry skin has more sensitive skin because dryness damages the natural protective barrier.

Sensitivity can be triggered even more by irritants or allergies. There is redness, peeling, itching or burning on the skin. If you feel that some skin care products are irritating to your skin then maybe your skin is sensitive.

In addition to your skin type, determining your skin tone is also important when considering skin care. Lighter skin is more sensitive to sunlight and will need more protection from sun damage; darker skin will also need to take some precautions.

So you should also know your skin type and choose the right products so that your skin also glows.
