KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS 2024 | HONORING BRAVERY AND SACRIFICE

Kargil Diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year to show gratitude toward Indian soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the Kargil war in 1999. Kargil Day is celebrated every year to recall India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War which took place in 1999. This day always honors and shows gratitude towards the courage, bravery, and sacrifice shown by Indian soldiers during this war. The operation was named Vijay which was a successful operation. This year we will be celebrating are 25th anniversary of the Kargil War. This day is important in history as Indian soldiers successfully capture the mountain heights which were earlier captured by the Pakistani army on 26th July 1999

more than 500 Indian soldiers have sacrificed their lives in the Kargil war which lasted for approximately 60 days in Ladakh.

On this day we show tribute to the families of the martyrs and to Indian soldiers who were martyrs.

In the Kargil War, the Indian Army defeated the Pakistanis who had illegally captured Tiger Hill and other posts on the side of India of the Line of Control. They entered the Kargil district located in Jammu and Kashmir. This war ended on 26 July 1999 when the Indians removed the Pakistani army from their occupied positions and hence this day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.

This day is very important for all of us and it plays an important role in our history. Many brave Soldiers leave their families and sacrifice their lives to protect us. So, we celebrate this day to salute the Indian Army and remember their bravery.

Officially 527 Indian soldiers were martyred during this war but on Pakistan’s side, only 357 soldiers were martyred. India lost its bravest soldier “Captain Vikram Batra” in this war. Captain Vikram Batra was awarded the Param Vir Chakra after his death. A movie named Shershah was also released to show the story of Captain Vikram Batra in detail

The movie Shershah was one such movie that won millions of hearts. This movie was the detailed story of Captain Vikram Batra. People became very emotional after watching this movie.

  • Pakistan Secretly captured the Kargil area by sending its forces into Indian territories under the name “Operation Badr”
  • Indian Air Force first destroyed all the Pakistan’s illegal posts.
  • Pakistan refused their involvement in the war and started blaming Kashmiri militants. But with time Pakistan indicated their involvement through various statements by the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Pakistan.
  • The movement aimed to separate Ladakh from Kashmir and suffer Siachen Valley residents to force India to accept the terms of Pakistan.

LATEST NEWS FOR KARGIL DIWAS

In 2024 the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday memorized its important role in the War, 25 years ago, when it achieved thousands of strike missions and helicopter sorties to support the Army’s efforts.

To honor this milestone, the IAF is celebrating ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti’ at Air Force Station Sarsawa from July 12-26, for tributing to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
