The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) issued a statement stating that due to the flood-like conditions in Delhi, the education department of the MCD has decided to close 10 schools in low-lying areas of the Civil Lines zone, six schools in the Shahdara (South) zone, and one school in the Shahdara (North). Students from these schools will take coursework online.

Up to July 16, all public, private, and aided schools in Punjab are closed. Harjot Singh Bains, the state’s minister of education, tweeted this information.

Conclusion: Flood-related school closures generally implemented to protect the health and safety of faculty, staff, and students. Flooding presents several dangers, including the possibility of structural damage to school buildings, dangerous situations on the property, and transportation issues. In these circumstances, local government officials or educational authorities who prioritize the safety of the school community usually decide whether to close the schools.

Educational officials must explain the causes of school cancellations and give updates on any alternative plans or plans to resume lessons. Communities frequently band together in these circumstances to aid individuals impacted by the flooding and lessen negative effects on education through the establishment of temporary learning facilities, humanitarian activities, or counseling services.
