STREE 2 TRAILER | RELEASED | BEST MOVIE 2024

Recently, the trailer of Stree 2 is released which has been loved by the people a lot. In Stree 2, the gang is back with their childish innocence and chaotic fun. The town is Chanderi and the conflict has changed from a female to a male one. In 2018, the men were in danger and this time, the women have to face the terror of a mysterious ghost known as Sarkatta. Director Amar Kaushik has increased the noise and visual effects and Shraddha Kapoor’s character has been shrouded in mystery.

Rajkummar Rao is still madly in love with Shraddha Kapoor and his friends Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee still support him immensely. And again, it is Pankaj Tripathi who gets the honour of coming up with the best one-liner. This is one of the most awaited sequels for a long time and could potentially be the biggest hit in Hindi of 2024.

Horror-comedies are taking the Indian film industry by storm, and the much-awaited sequel of ‘Stree’ is set to be the next scream-fest. The trailer of the film, titled ‘Stree 2’, released on Thursday (July 18), sending shivers and excitement down the spines of fans. Released in 2018, ‘Stree’ surprised everyone, surpassing expectations and raking in a whopping Rs 200 crore. Six years later, the wait is finally over. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films, the team behind horror hits like Stree, Bhediya and Munjya, promises a sequel filled with even more laughter and scares.

The trailer of Stree 2 hints at a new terror lurking in the shadows – a headless creature called Sarkate. This spooky ghost creates chaos in the village, which throws our favourite characters Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), Jana (Shraddha Kapoor) and Bittu into action. Another layer of mystery is added with the return of Vicky’s ghostly girlfriend, played by Shraddha Kapoor. The trailer perfectly presents the spooky scenes along with the typical comedy antics of Vicky and his friends, leaving the audience scared and laughing. Tamannaah Bhatia adds a tadka of glamour with her presence in a special song, although the trailer suggests that her role might be limited to this.

The main cast of ‘Stree’ is reuniting for ‘Stree 2’. Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana are all back, their brilliant performances and the perfect blend of comedy and horror have been key elements in the success of the first film.

Audiences are eagerly waiting for the sequel and ‘Stree 2’ is going to live up to the expectations. Rajkummar Rao has impressed audiences with Srikant and Mr and Mrs Mahi this year. Pankaj Tripathi recently wowed audiences in the much-awaited season 3 of Mirzapur. ‘Stree 2’ is set to hit theatres on August 15, but it faces competition from Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh’s Telugu film Double Smart, which is releasing on the same day.

A LITTLE ABOUT STREE

Stree is a horror comedy with a ghost and a purpose too. Amidst all the laughter and screams are thoughts about the role of women in Indian society and the way women are portrayed in the horror genre.

Then disappointingly it also has a regressive item number that dilutes the message and a long romantic track in the first half. Yet for the most part the film written by Raj and DK never deviates from its mission: to incorporate all the tropes of horror and thus show the inherent humour present in the genre. Overall, a film that has both nervous laughs and humour-induced laughter to temper the scares, credit goes to dialogue writer Sumit Arora.

It may be titled Stree, but the film really revolves around the men. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao, continuing the small-town charm of Bareilly Ki Barfi) is the best tailor in Chanderi, where superstitious residents write “O Stree, Kal Aana” on their walls to avoid the sight of a female ghost who hides for only four nights each year in search of men.

On the first day, Vicky meets a young woman (Shraddha Kapoor) whose sudden entrance, almost always from behind, immediately spells trouble. Vicky is not concerned. It is only after two men disappear, including one from his friend Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) asking questions about the existence of his unnamed girlfriend, that Vicky begins to take the deadly ghost threat seriously.

Like Go Goa Gone, Stree too focuses on ordinary men who find themselves pitted against a formidable adversary, though here the focus is more on one as Rao’s Vicky becomes the reluctant hero of the battle to save Chanderi. Here too, the best scenes belong to the three friends – Bittu, Vicky and Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) – as they discuss matters of the heart and deal with horrors. Adding to the fun is the inclusion of a local self-appointed expert on Stree (Pankaj Tripathi), who suggests escape tricks that emphasize the goodness of the evil spirit and also always highlight the social customs that have bound women for a long time.

Stree’s advocacy for gender equality is cleverly done, exposing the socio-political leanings of its makers, whether talking about being “devotees” or the Emergency. The writers also cleverly turn Hindi cinema’s heavy romantic gimmick of ‘Palat’ into a rule of horror that doesn’t look back.

But for a film that intends to expose the ridiculousness of the Indian horror film landscape with logic, Stree can’t stop itself from relying on the familiar old tricks of the horror rulebook like magical parts and more to deal with it.

stree

After pleasing the audience with several ideas, it’s a little disappointing to see a film that treads in very familiar territory. Stree tries to give its female ghost an identity that goes beyond revenge, yet in the end she doesn’t feel like anything beyond a scream queen.

Till now the fever of Stree had not gone away and now after watching the trailer of Stree 2, I can’t handle my excitement.

Don’t keep any work for 15th August and if you have any work then forget it and just enjoy Stree 2.
